Like Champs-Elysées in Paris or Vaci in Budapest, Stradun, the main street of Dubrovnik, is wide, full of beautiful buildings, churches, fountains, and functions as the city's main shopping area. It runs from the Pile Gate entrance on the western end to the Ploce Gate access on the east side. Shops share a strikingly uniform design as a result of historic preservation efforts. The constant foot traffic has buffed the limestone beneath your feet to a smooth finish and the shops along the Stradun are a mixture ranging between tacky T-shirt and coffee mug places and elite fashion.
